2023 WE WERE NEVER MEANT TO SURVIVE, Video, 8.30’

Proposing a speculative world where I imagine humanity on a battlefield and see desire as the key to cultivate resilience. In this performance for the camera, a group of non-trained performers come together to pre-enact this speaculative scenario and prepare mentally & emotionally for death and dying together.

With sound design and musical composition by
Ayse Zeynep Hatipoglu & Metehan Kokturk, Conceived to embody the scores and the cues of the accompanying the performance it incorporates my spoken word performance, drawn from the text I have composed and used for the direction of the performance.

The musical composition blends electronic sounds with a stylistic change of instruments such as violoncello, electric guitar, darbuka. It has manipulations over the acoustic instruments and repetitive and strict rhythmic lines to  reflects the imminent state of being.
